Grand Bend is the perfect place for an elopement. Here in our end of Southern Ontario, Grand Bend is a gem. It’s soft sand beaches and gorgeous sunsets, I’m sure we all have had great times there!
Kira and Jesse have a ton of amazing memories in Grand Bend. Kira’s family cottage backs right onto the main beach so this was an obvious location spot for us and their wedding photos.
Their story is a little different from a typical wedding day. They were actually already married, and with COVID dashing their wedding day plans, we decided to go to their happy place and get dressed up for some wedding day celebration of a different kind. Their beach side elopement didn’t miss any of the treasured moments of a full wedding day. Mom was there to help Kira into her dress.
I always chat with my couples about doing a first look. A reveal of the dress and the beautiful bride is always one of my favourite moments. Keeping Jesse hidden in the Grand Bend cottage was a little challenging while Kira got ready, but totally worth it!
Grand Bend might be one of my favourite beaches in Ontario to photograph couples and families. The sunsets and evening light is amazing. Paired with Kira and Jesse’s amazing connection and I just knew we were going to have an amazing time with some gorgeous photos as a result. Barefoot bride, Kira and Jesse took off through the sand, hand in hand!
Something I have been dying to try was to have a photo on the beach with a flock of birds taking off into the air. Since the beach was near empty, and there were seagulls everywhere. I asked Kira and Jess what they thought of running into the flock of birds to get them airborne for a photo. They didn’t even hesitate, and off the went. I mean I have literally never seen anyone move as fast as these two. And Kira in a wedding dress! It was amazing!
Changing gears a little bit, we took a nice leisurely stroll along the boardwalk stopping along the way for sun drenched photos along the way. The light was beautiful, their love was perfect. 🙂
Making our way back to the cottage, Kira’s family was there, and of course we had to indulge in the families tradition of wearing the oversized family cottage glasses!
Looking forward to 2021, I hope to leave more footprints in the sand. If you’re planning an elopement or wedding day, give me a shout, I would LOVE to be there for you!
Another favourite place of mine to shoot at are wineries. Here is a link to a Jackson Triggs winery engagement session
